HISTORY

Rondefontein Guest Farm

Rondefontein was originally surveyed in September 1924 and registered in the name of AJ Strauss.

In later years it was sold to Grahame (a South African cricketer) and Noon Chevalier.

Grahame and Noon build the steel frame house (now our home) in 1979.

They traveled over to the UK and worked there for a while were they got the idea of starting a “Farmstay”

on their own farm back home.

And that was the Birth of Rondefontein Guest Farm (the first “Farmstay” in the district of Springfontein).

It was their home for many years before they sold.

They sold the Guest farm to Steph and Antonette Coetzer (both retired teachers).

Steph and Antonette expanded the guest farm and built on rooms, and made improvements etc...

They ran the guest farm very successfully for many years. They also catered to the local farming community and stories of their time at Rondefontein still gets told to this day, almost everyone having a fond memory here with them.

After Antonette’s passing, Steph built the beautiful little chapel in memory of her. He sold the guest farm a few years later.

He sold the guest farm to the Siebrits family from Pretoria (Twane), Nico (ex airforce) his wife Gerda and their daughter Elizabeth.

Elizabeth went on to teaching at a local school in Springfontein while together with her parents,

ran Rondefontein guest farm successfully for about 9 years, also making their mark on its history.

All the previous owners mainly hired out the farm itself to local farmers of which my dad was one.

They then sold to my dad, Neville Grobler (a 6th generation farmer in the Springfontein district), who then allowed us (Nicole and Louis Mans) this wonderful opportunity to run Rondefontein Guest Farm. We took over on 02 April 2016 and have not looked back.
